The cultural highlights of Zeeland

Zeeland's history

Besides sun, sea and beach there is much more to experience in Zeeland. We have selected a few unique tips for you.

Museums are everywhere in Zeeland! The province of Zeeland has a rich history, which you can admire in museums such as the Zeeuws Museum in Middelburg or the Maritiem MuZEEum in Vlissingen.

MuZEEum: In this former city palace from the Golden Age, you will become acquainted with the grand maritime history of Zeeland. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the sea from the roof balcony with its unique 17th century lookout tower.

Het Zeeuws Museum The world-famous 16th century tapestries, magnificent collections of porcelain and paintings, surprising fashion and regional costume presentations, and cabinets of rare treasures from Asia, Africa, and South America offer new perspectives on the history of Zeeland.

Deltapark Neeltje Jans: Zeeland lies for a large part at or below sea level. At the end of January 1953 large parts of Zeeland were flooded, also known as the flood disaster of '53. The Delta Works were built in response to this. By visiting Deltapark Neeltje Jans you will discover the story behind the disaster and the construction of the Delta Works.

Miniatuur Walcheren: is also called "little Walcheren. This, because it shows a miniature park Walcheren in 'miniature' including the boulevard of Vlissingen and the abbey complex of Middelburg.
