1983

Sketch plans for the renovation

In March 1983, Izeboud announced the name of his hotel: Westduin Budget Hotel. It was not until Friday 12 August 1983 that the first of the 180 piles was driven into the ground. Director Eef Izeboud and manager Robbert-Jan Hanemaaijer were able to open the doors of the Westduin Budget Hotel on Friday 1 June 1984.

In April 1988, Izeboud concluded a franchise agreement with the Golden Tulip hotel chain for the use of their brand name and the promotion of hotels. In 1992, Izeboud broke off his cooperation with the Golden Tulip chain for various reasons. In the run-up to 1989, new investments were necessary, especially due to the increasing demand for multi-day conference accommodation. The business market with its courses, meetings, seminars and trainings started becoming the main source of income for the hotel.

The year 1994 was very important for Hotel Westduin. The hotel celebrated its tenth anniversary on 1 June and was able to open the wing with the new accommodations in October 1984. The hotel now had 90 double rooms, eight meeting rooms and a new indoor swimming pool with gym. Two sunbeds, a sauna, a toilet and changing rooms were installed at the swimming pool. The hotel area had been expanded to 10,000 m².
